Eurofiber has completed its second fibre-optic connection between the city of Groningen and Eemshaven. The establishment of this connection has further improved the connectivity of Dataport Eemshaven and the area has become even more attractive to large data centres.
Maarssen – Eurofiber and QTS announced a strategic partnership regarding QTS’ newly acquired data centers in Eemshaven and Groningen. The partnership includes connectivity services and cooperation in sales and marketing.

Jeanine van der Vlist has joined the Executive board of Eurofiber. She will be taking on the new role of Chief Commercial Officer in the Executive board. Paul Naastepad will be succeeding Jeanine van der Vlist as managing director of Eurofiber Netherlands. The new appointment is a result of Eurofiber’s ambitions for continued growth.
Eurofiber has started construction on a new fiber-optic connection to the Eemshaven Dataport. Supplementing the existing route via Delfzijl, the route between the city of Groningen and Eemshaven will be Eurofiber’s second connection to the Dataport. The new connection will be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2018.
This year the annual ECTA conference will take place in Brussels on 28th and 29th November. Eurofiber is an active member and sponsor of this conference. Eurofiber’s Gijs Phoelich has been chairman of the ECTA board since 2016. He will open the conference on Tuesday 28th November.
On 30th March, Eurofiber launched a direct connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS), expanding the scope of the company’s existing Secure Cloud Connect services. Secure Cloud Connect provides organisations with a direct and redundant link to leading cloud platforms via a fiber-optic connection that is separated from the public internet.
Eurofiber is taking part in the European Round Table on Connected and Automated Driving today at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. Chaired by Andrus Ansip, Vice President of the European Commission, the Round Table marks a further milestone on the road towards self-driving cars.
